Paralegal, Employment and Compliance (Junior Lawyer)

The Global Legal Services Paralegal – Employment and Compliance will deliver high quality legal support to the business in collaboration with the ELC legal team in Panama, New York and the Regions. The Paralegal will primarily be responsible for labor, employment, regulatory and compliance research and documentation needs across multiple business units. This is a role that will also assist in drafting and reviewing contracts and legal documents, information gathering, and updating legal matters. This position is part of ELC’s Global Legal organization and is responsible for the work related to a wide variety Employment and Litigation matters in jurisdictions throughout the world.
Roles and Responsibilities
Support the ELC legal teams in Panama, New York and the Regions.
Deliver global legal support services relating to labor and employment law matters, including compliance and employee relations matters and internal investigations through a multi-function shared service model across ELC’s internal and external stakeholders
Information gathering and organization of supporting documents for legal cases.
Conduct legal research on labor and employment law matters, including tracking of regulations and assisting with implementation plans – 20%
Respond to administrative charges and audits – 25%
Draft and review standard form employment related service agreements – 15%
Participate on committee for background investigations for prospective employees – 10%
Assist in monitoring of Global Compliance Program and perform investigations – 20%
Design and create training materials associated with Employment Law and Compliance education – 10%
Draft, review and organize a variety of legal documents that support the Employment, Dispute Resolution and Litigation matters.
Position based at ELC’s OneSource Legal Shared Services Center in Panama.
Cosmetic and/or OTC industry experience a plus.
JD or equivalent Law Degree from a top law school preferred.
Excellent written and spoken English and Spanish is a must.
3 to 5 years of experience at a reputable law firm and/or legal department of a multi-national company, working in Employee Relations Matters, Compliance, and Labor and Employment Law.
Ability to form strong relationships with business leaders and serve as a counterpart to NY employment law team.
Strong acumen of labor and employment law.
Strong acumen and experience in drafting and negotiating legal documents.
High emotional intelligence, strong interpersonal, communication and relationship-building skills.
Experience with information gathering, contract drafting/review, and due diligence in connection with employment, commercial litigation, and dispute resolution, amongst others.
Experience working in a multicultural environment with a diverse workforce, in a shared services and/or working with remote teams.
Strong project management skills and organizational skills.
Effectively communicates, exercises good judgment in decision making, understands and synthesizes complex issues.
Strong technical skills with experience in Microsoft Office 365, SAP, Ariba, Serengeti, customer relationship management and workflow management systems.
LLM from a US University is a plus.

LLM from a US University is a plus.
Previous experience working in the US on labor, employment and/or compliance matters is a plus.
Work shift: Monday to Friday – Business hours.
