Position Summary and Purpose

The Director of Development is responsible for the school’s strategic communications, marketing (including promoting and protecting the school’s institutional reputation, public relations and enrollment), constituency relations and institutional fundraising.

The Director of Development will drive the Development Programme that engages the passion and loyalty of students, staff and parents from the past, present and future to create a world-wide ISP community. As a member of the Leadership Team, the Director of Development collaborates with the other senior administrators and directs the Development Office and Staff.


The role is multi-faceted and involves Marketing, Communication, Admissions and Development. The person in this role is to demonstrate the following in the name of serving the ISP Community and Mission:

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  • Organizes, develops, implements, promotes and supervises systems for: public relations with the local corporations existing and potential future corporate customers and sponsor.

  • Develops marketing strategies, prepares promotional materials and designs ISP advertising campaigns (in conjunction with the Head of Admissions)

  • Helps design ISP corporate fundraising campaigns and develop strategies, fund raising funds from individuals and ISP Alumni to support ISP development projects.

  • Provides direction and support for the planning and execution of the communication master plan, to build and protect the ISP reputation and keep school, local and/or corporate community informed about ISP development and special events.

  • Coordinates Alumni affairs and develops strategies to promote strong relationships

  • Liaises with the Parents Association of ISP and provides guidance for execution of PTA led events or outreach.

Establishes and promotes strong and close relationships with the broader community and the ISP community in a variety of capacities

Communications and Marketing to include:

  • Provides Leadership in the marketing and promotion of the school and its programs positioning ISP as the School of choice for enrolment and recruitment

  • Manages the ISP brand, institutional reputation and identity (Including visual identity)

  • Coordinates and advises internal communication at ISP

  • Provides internal and external communication guidelines and protocols

  • Maximizes communication channels including online, social media and print publications


Constituency Relations to include:

  • Maintains and builds relationships amongst and between all direct constituency members and with the wider community in ISP, Panama and internationally

  • Builds a fully integrated international alumni program for the benefit of the ISP diaspora and the school

  • Identifies, trains and manages the school’s advancement volunteers

  • Provides assistance and support to the school’s Community Service Program

  • Designs and guides the execution of a public relation’s plan for the school. The plan should include strategies for making the community aware of the school’s community service activities

  • Represents ISP outreach activities as determined by the Director

Other Professional Duties:

  • Assists the leadership team with the implementation of school policy and procedure

  • Supervises Head of Admissions and Communications & Marketing Managers

  • Responds with sound, fair judgement of unique scenarios that occur throughout the school year

  • Serves on a variety of working committees

  • Performs additional duties as reasonably assigned


Minimum Requirements:

  • Master Degree or higher

  • Bachelor in relevant areas such as marketing or communication

  • At least 7 years of experience, with a proven track record in successfully driving marketing strategy, communications, constituent relations preferably in the education or service industry in Panama or an international setting.


Skills and Competencies:

  • Highly skilled and sound experience in managing company reputation and advertising

  • Must demonstrate the ability to set goals and develop a realistic, strategic plan for attaining the goals.
